Experience bliss, deep relaxation, pain relief, greater fluid movement, and restorative cellular benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
About the lymphatic system: Most people are familiar with the vessels of the cardiovascular system--arteries and associated vessels, capillaries, and veins. The Lymphatic System is a separate system that does not carry blood, instead carrying lymph that has leaked into tissues from the blood capillaries. Without this system our bodies would not be able to clear lymph in tissues and would result in increased inflammation throughout the body. The lymphatic system runs from peripheral tissues into larger and larger lymphatic vessels, eventually dumping into veins before entering the heart. Along the way, lymph fluid goes through filtering stations, called lymph nodes. Together this system of vessels, nodes and large trunks works to clear excess fluid, proteins, toxins from tissues, and return filtered lymph into the blood system. The lymphatic vessels have discreet sections that contract when full, pushing lymph to the next section of the vessel. It is a bit like pearls on a string always moving toward the heart.
What Manual Lymphatic DOES: Working from the center of the body to farthest away, Manual Lymphatic Drainage opens lymphatic channels, from major lymph trunks, to lymph nodes, and lymph vessels.
MLD uses light, gentle rhythmic stretching of the skin, without massage oil. I do use essential oils for each client as appropriate and desired.
